This volume of lessons is the third in a series of lessons which focuses on particular principles of character which either should or should not be manifest in each individual. So as not to confuse the reader, it might be necessary to explain the previous statement. Volume One of Needful Things comprised the same premise as does this second volume of studies bearing the same title. The antithesis of Needful Things was the volume of lessons called Things We Can Live Without.

As should be obvious, Needful Things volumes one and two, examine principles set forth in scripture which must be applied if one expects to be in favor with God. These principles are either specifically demanded, exemplified by the Lord as attributes we should emulate, or inferred by inspired writers. In either case, upon perusal of the scriptures, should we discover that we are deficient in these principles, that deficiency defines the premise for the study.

This series will contain an examination of the "fruit of the Spirit" found in Galatians 5 which has certainly been the focus of many studies, but is always worth a fresh look now and again. It also contains a section of “readies” which I hope the reader will find to be an enlightening and encouraging study.

As always, these lessons are designed to either be used as sermon or classroom material. There should be ample room for notes and questions should the lessons be used in a classroom setting.

It is my earnest desire that any who uses this material will gain something from the structure and content of these lessons. I submit them to your use and to the glory of God.
