Full-voiced, vigorous congregational singing is central to the identity and mission of the church of Christ. Yet something is happening to congregational singing in our day. The practice is waning. Whole congregations are forgetting how to sing -- and they are forgetting how to pass on a three-thousand-year-old legacy that reaches back to the practice of ancient Israel and the churches of the first century.
