The Devoted Heart
What does it mean that David is often called “a man after God’s heart”? When we think of David, we remember his courage against Goliath, his uninhibited worship before the Lord as the Ark of the Covenant returned to Jerusalem, and the psalms he wrote—songs that have provided generations of believers with the words to express praise, grief, and trust in the Lord
On the other hand, we also remember his darkest hour—his adultery with Bathsheba, the subsequent murder of Uriah, and the consequences that tore his family apart
Yet through all the triumph and tragedy, David kept turning toward the Lord.
That’s what set him apart.
